Nike: “Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture"

Nike: “Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture”

During Miami Art Week in 2023, Nike created the “Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture” exhibition at Rubell Museum which honored Abloh’s creative legacy, highlighting his long-term partnership with Nike, and shared design methodologies that were central to his creative identity. Celebrating Abloh’s working Codes, the event positioned the co-created Architecture platform as a driver for expanding Abloh’s creation ethos across future projects.

Leading up to this four day exhibition, we animated billboards in NY & LA for an experience that brought Nike & VA Securities together to honor Virgil’s life & legacy. In addition to that, we were tapped to produce & bring to life two panel discussions hosted by Brandon ‘Jinx’ Jenkins to the viewers on the SNKRS App & to a live audience at the Rubell Museum.

How to Move in a Room Full of No’s: Virgil embodied everything that was possible, whether it’s the industries that he was in, the levels he reached within those industries, and all the barriers that he overcame. But to be in those rooms, encountering a ton of no’s is inevitable. This panel discussion was about how to go about moving in a room full of no’s & Virgil’s success at defying no’s.

Host: Brandon Jinx Jenkins, Guests: Adwoa Aboah (model & actress), Clint (founder of Corteiz), Beth Birkett Gibbs (co-owner of Union LA)

Terra Forma: The Evolution of Virgil x Nike Design: Virgil's work with Nike is best known for his ability to remix and reconstruct some of the most iconic and innovative Nike silhouettes while preserving their spirit, applying his design thinking to shoes we all recognize and giving them new life. The Terra Forma is an evolution of that ethos, a sneaker designed from the sole up by Virgil and collaborators like Enrico Carbonere and Shamees Aden, referencing some of Nike's most recognized design cues to create something completely new. This panel discussion was about the design process behind the Terra Forma and the vision for the future that Virgil and the team envisioned.

Host: Brandon Jinx Jenkins, Guests: Enrico Carbonere (Senior Footwear Designer, Nike Catalyst) & Shamees Aden (Senior Footwear Designer)
